How to Play Platdle

Platdle is a daily guessing game for PlatHub members: name the PlayStation game behind a platinum. There is one game a day, the same for everybody, and a new one starts at midnight (UTC+3).

Guesses and hints

You get five guesses and five hints. The first hint is there from the start, and every wrong guess opens the next one, so your last guess comes with every hint out. The hints always come in this order:

  1. A pixelated platinum icon.
  2. How many words the name has, and its first letter.
  3. The genre, critic score and platinum rarity.
  4. The release date and platforms.
  5. The plain platinum icon, with a part of the name.

Type a game and pick it from the list to guess. If you have no idea, Skip guess spends a guess to open the next hint. On your last guess it becomes Give up. Solve it and you see the answer straight away; otherwise it comes out on the next day's Platdle page.

Which games can be the answer

The answer is always a game from the guess list, but never shovelware: a game whose platinum is earned by more than 80% of players. Every answer is checked by hand before it goes in the queue.

Your streak

Your streak is the number of days in a row you played Platdle to the end, solved or not. Missing a day resets it, and it stays alive through today until you play, as long as you finished yesterday's game. The longest current streaks have their own leaderboard.

Past games

Any earlier day's game can be played from Past Games on the Platdle page. A past game doesn't count for your streak, unless you are a Patreon backer and use a streak save on it.

Stats

Platdle Stats shows your games played, solve rate, streaks and how many guesses your solves took, next to how everybody did on today's game.

Do I need an account?

Yes. Playing takes a free PlatHub account, so your games and streak are saved to it.
